I suppose I am, and always will be, a student of art. This has helped me keep sight of my objective, which is to maintain a high level of dedication as a an imaginative artist. I can say in honesty that I am accomplishing this goal as a result of my lifelong interest in the arts in general, and the visual arts, in particular. This is continuously reinforced by my association with encouraging teachers and other talented painters. In this way I surround myself creative people and absorb what I need to improve my own work.
As an eclectic person with multiple interests, it never felt natural to me to be attached to one specific field of interest, such as portraiture, still life, or landscapes. I use anything and everything as a source of inspiration, whether it be the reflections of light in a pond, a photograph, or purely inventions of my imagination. To me, all images, external and internal, are legitimate subjects to express through art.
Because art is very difficult to explain in a few words or sentences, I prefer to let my creations do the talking. As the creator of the piece, I too am the art, and with each creation I expose a little bit of my inner nature to the observer—my true self—my inner voice. My intention in producing works of art, is simply to move you, that is to make you feel something special and provide a unique experience you would not have had otherwise. |
